In an interview with Xbox one boss Phil Spencer, he has pointed that the Xbox One elite is optional, it doesn’t require an update from the current Xbox One console. The elite comes with a handful of improvements but the biggest of them all is a faster boot times. The Elite comes with a hybrid solid state 1TB hard drive and the Xbox Elite Controller.

phil-spencerSpencer explains the Elite was created to offer customers different buying options that will best suit their financial situations and wants.

“We should always make sure we have something for the discerning customer who wants the very best we’ll be able to offer, and I want to give them that opportunity,” he said of the brand new hardware.

Spencer acknowledges that it might not be a good enough reason the upgrade, as the system was intended for people that want the highest end product that Microsoft has to offer now. It was not a move to entice owners to abandon their current consoles in favour of more storage and faster boot up speeds.

“If you’re really happy [with your Xbox One console] you should go try [Xbox Elite], but it really wasn’t meant to try and flip you from the setup you have now. It will be faster, but I don’t know it would be fast enough to say that you’d want to go off and spend hundreds of dollars to do that.”

If your low on cash, I would just suggest picking up a decent HDD (email us if you need help) and installing yourself. It would be way cheaper but it might void the warranty. I would like to add how honest Phil Spencer is, not trying to hype up products, or even making up bullsh** that is unique to find in a CEO.
