Xbox Boss Phil Spencer: I Want To Give People A Choice

In an Interview with Giant Bomb Phil Spencer speak on Xbox exclusive, on how he want to give people choice in addition on how he wants Xbox to be the best TV Gaming platform (console) but at the same time give people the choice to play the games when you’re not around the T.V and be able to play on your laptop

“As a gamer I play games on PC… I want to be able to play the games where I want to play them… I want to give people a choice.”

“There’s this kind of back channel frankly I don’t really subscribe to of you need to keep people from playing in certain places, somehow that’s the answer… I want to give people choice and with Xbox I want it to be the best TV gaming experience you can have but frankly if I’m not on my TV and I’m on my laptop, and want to play killer instinct, I want to play gear, I want to play fable, I should be able to do that and to try force people to buy something by excluding their choice.”

We know the MCC collection is coming to PC but this could mean many more titles heading. Check out the interview here:

Oh Phil, late to the game as usual. Microsoft invented XBOX to disrupt PC gaming. They wanted to confuse then split the PC community from within. XBOX is a way for M$ to make money off of their gamers from every aspect of software, equipment, and services – not just at the OS level. The PC gamers has a choice, XBOX has none.

  • NARDDAWG TGMTEL

he’s done a great job so far, this fall is gonna be great

  • Fayz 6ix

no they didn’t invent xbox to disrupt pc gaming, they just wanted to make an affordable convenient console for everyone. They did very well with the xbox 360 being affordable & having a huge games library as well as a revolutionary online service. the xbone launch was where it fell off but phil is a great boss and he is already improving the system in many ways.

  • Ben

No, they invented it because of the fact the PS2 was selling insanely well, and it was threatening Microsoft’s position in the OS market, so they stepped in. Sony is still on top, though Microsoft has done quite well penetrating the market.

  • Fayz 6ix

sorry did you just say ‘threatening Microsoft’s position in the OS market’ ? … ok let me know when sony has their own OS please.

  • tplarkin7

I guess things have improved with Phil, but it’s not enough for me. Game design has stagnated. I don’t care about Gears, Halo, or Forza. Maybe I’ll buy them, but they’re not new or exciting. The true definition of a video game is “a new experience that exploits new hardware”.

  • XanderZane41

The XBox was created for 2 reasons. 1) Give gamers a cheaper choice to play excellent games at an affordable price without have to pay $1000 for a PC 2) They wanted to be able to sell more games and make a decent profit from these games without their games getting pirated to death. PC games are still more pirated then any other platform on the planet. This was why many developers jumped to game consoles. Microsoft should make some PC Exclusives and leave XBox One exclusives on the XB1. That would be their best best unless they want to see XB1 sales slow down.

  • Dirkster_Dude

There isn’t a single company that doesn’t make something without the idea of making a profit off of it. They have not done anything morally or ethically wrong. And what he is probably talking about is whatever version of being able to play XB1 games on your PC similar to the streaming that Sony currently requires some sort of monthly subscription for.

Maybe I overstretched it, but yes I was about correct.

  • disqus_a54470QfBE

Go fuck yourself asshole. U are a disease waiting to be eradicated.

  • disqus_a54470QfBE

Are you that retarded or were you born that way. Either way, you shouldve been aborted. A bullet will fix that

  • MaximMillion

Bullshit. Xbox was created so MS could enter the living room space, simple as that.

  • MaximMillion

You don’t know what the fuck you’re on about. “Disrupt PC gaming” yeah you don’t know jackshit and are just jumping on the media bias against the X1. MS wanted to enter the living room space so sony wouldn’t monopolise it; they may have been a few years too late however.

  • MaximMillion

MS wanted a presence in the living room. Sony was monopolising that space quickly after Sega and Nintendo fell over, so MS decided it was time to jump in.
Oh, and IGN is a piece of shit biased as F garbage fantard site. Take what they say with a grain of shit.

  • MaximMillion

Unfortunately we’ve all been brainwashed into thinking MS need to do more even though they’re already doing some awesome stuff lately. sOny are presenting what they’re doing well, but are barely pumping out any solid games; just small indie games they don’t even develop. Because this is the case, however, you’re right. MS has to work twice as hard as sOny this gen to wins the braindead gamer fanbase back on side.

  • YOUDIEMOFO

Good…… Give me the choice to merc all kinds of console players from my PC!!

Go ahead and put that cross platform play into action…….especially in some FPS and or RTS!! That should bode well (not!!) for the console players. Dead before you even knew what happened.

  • YOUDIEMOFO

You know…….one that takes their own advice is a standing example.

In this case it would a “laying” example, but I’m sure where the correlation is you can make up the rest for yourself.

  • Cthulhu

what a troll post, atleast try to think of something that sounds realistic. this is stupid

  • XanderZane41

Sunset Overdrive, Cuphead, Encore, Scalebound, Below, Inside isn’t new? Meantime we still get the same thing on the PS4. More Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, God of War, Killzone, GT, Infamous, FF XII, Shenmue, etc, etc..PS4 fanboys aren’t complaining about those? Why should XB1 fans complain about Fable, Forza, Gears and Halo? So many hypocrites.

  • tplarkin7

I agree that Sony is doing worse. Sony’s business model worked for PS1, and PS2. It failed with PS3, and is still failing with PS4.

  • tplarkin7

Microsoft has done a much better job than Sony, but I want them to make new AAA games.
