Metal Gear Solid Creator Kojima; Restricted by Konami; Industry Changing
Well a week ago Konami revealed that they will continue on the production of Silent Hill without Kojima. Well the company has spoken up a bit more on their side:
“[Hideo Kojima is] extremely passionate about the Metal Gear series and understands the financial importance of each instalment…” “But, he has always wanted to be involved in something new.”
“Kojima, for a while now, was believed to have been finished with Metal Gear series,” “but we needed Metal Gear.”
Konami and Kojima planned to bring back the Castlevania series with Castlevania: Lords of Shadows, which was developed by Kojima Productions in combination with MercurySteam, a studio with high interest from the publisher. Lords Of was supposed to keep Kojima and his production team satisfied creatively–as well as, give Konami something other than Metal Gear. But, things have changed so we can predict Lord of Shadow would be released any time soon.
Kojima says the industry is “changing,” and “wanting to grow more as a developer.” Kojima just feels “restricted” by Konami’s “vision” for Kojima Productions.” “That’s what really soured the relationship,”
