Life is strange Review

Life is strange is an episodic interactive drama graphic adventure video game developed by Dontnod Entertainment. It’s a story driven game where decisions are made which could lead to consequences throughout the game.

A bit about the story

We will talk a little bit about the storyline, without giving out any spoilers. Wouldn’t want to ruin it for you guys. You play as a young girl named Max were she has a unique ability to control time at a certain length.  She is a student who loves photography and carries her camera where ever she goes. She suddenly wake up in class from what she believes is a weird dream. After class ends, she wonders off to the girl’s toilets to freshen up where she suddenly finds a beautiful butterfly flying in from the window. Being the photogenic that she is, she decides to capture it, when suddenly she hears someone entering the toilet who appears to be a boy. She can here him rambling about how he isn’t going to take shit (hehe). This is where Max’s first incident occurs where she unknowingly goes back in time, to her classroom and finds herself right at the beginning. This is also where she realises she can change her actions in certain situations which may lead to better or worse consequences.

Rating

Overall, the first chapter was great, a single decision at the start changed the whole output for me which I later on regretted choosing. To make it short, I was captured by the storyline and loved every bit of it, so much that I ended up finishing the first episode in one go. It felt different, I know the mechanics has been there before however this game has a unique feel to it. Maybe because I’ve been playing too many AAA zombie or FPS game recently and I also loved the art style (graphics). I would give this game a 9/10.
